Apple Music Now Plays On Amazon Echo Speakers

At the end of November, Amazon announced that Apple Music would be joining the list of music services supported by its Alexa smart digital assistant on December 17. Now, a few days ahead of time, it seems to be rolling out, at least partially.

You can now set up Apple Music through the Amazon Alexa app on Android or iOS, and once you’ve linked your accounts, you’re good to go. Alexa can do pretty much what you’d expect from any music service, with support for personal and editor-curated playlists and radio stations.

Unlike what was originally announced, though, Apple Music doesn’t seem to work on all Alexa-enabled devices. For now, the functionality seems to be limited to Amazon’s own Echo speakers. However, as mentioned above, we’re a few days ahead of the planned schedule, and it could be that Amazon will roll out support for other devices, such as the Sonos Beam, by Monday.

Until then, if you do have one of Amazon’s Echo devices, you can use the Alexa app to set up Apple Music.
