Panasonic announces Soundbar Models offering Dolby Atmos and DTS:X

Panasonic has announced two soundbar models offering Dolby Atmos and DTS:X, one with Technics tuning, looking to boost the performance of your TV audio and give you a more immersive sound experience.

The HTB900 gets that Technics tuning as the flagship model and wants to boost your music as well as your movies, while offering 505W of sound from six front-firing 65mm mid-range speakers, supported by two tweeters.

It also offers a wide range of connectivity, supporting Google Assistant and with Chromecast built-it, meaning you can easily send content to it from your phone from services like Spotify or Google Play Music.

Panasonic HTB900 is a Technics-tuned soundbar supporting Dolby Atmos and DTS:X

The HTB700 takes a slight step down with 376W from three 65mm mid-range drivers and this version doesn’t support Google Assistant.

Both come with a 16cm wireless subwoofer and offer 2x HDMI input and one HDMI (ARC) output, with support for 4K passthrough, as well as supporting Bluetooth.

Both feature upfiring speakers to bounce the audio for the height channels off the ceiling to help create that immersive Dolby Atmos sound experience. Either can be wall-mounted and both are finished in a black fabric grille for a contemporary look.

We sampled some test content on the HTB900 and it sounded nice and rich, with noticeable immersion, although the room we were listening in wasn’t ideal for Atmos playback.

With more TVs in Panasonic’s 2019 range supporting Dolby Atmos, you’ll be able to pair these soundbars with Atmos-enabled TVs to make the most of the audio offering whatever the source.

The new soundbars will be available around June 2019, but there’s currently no word on pricing.
