Micro LED TVs will become mainstream by 2026 per reports

According to IHS MARKIT, Micro LED TVs will soon become mainstream, as production of it is on full scale currently.

Predictions for the sales will rise from under 1,000 sets this year to 15.5 million by 2026. The major reason for the surge in sales is because of the  drop in manufacturing costs, which will bring the price down drastically. Which, in turn, will make them much more attractive for consumers.

Micro LED TVs are very similar to OLED sets, instead of using organic light-emitting diodes that OLEDs uses, they use tiny, non-organic LEDs. This means each individual pixel can be turned on or off independently of the others, resulting in perfect contrast and colour control.

Micro OLED TVs are currently being used for advertising. With consumer friendly devices to come next year. Thy are not going to be cheap.

According to IHS Markit, Micro OLED displays will be found on many devices like the smartwatches, augmented reality systems and smartphones.

By 2026 the cost of a 1.5in Micro OLED panel for a smartwatch will fall to just a tenth of its current cost, according to the researchers. The price of a 75in TV panel will cost just a fifth of its current price in the same period.

Even with the huge increase in popularity by 2026, Micro OLED will still account for a small percentage of all global TV sales, which is slightly over 0.4 percent, according to the researchers.
