KLH Latest Monitor Features Wide-dispersion Concentric

It’s been more than a year since the iconic speaker brand KLH returned to the market and it has already established a full line of speakers and even introduced a set of classy headphones.

The latest addition to its lineup is a compact two-way monitor featuring a wide-dispersion concentric design where the tweeter is mounted in the throat of the woofer — a first for KLH.

Offered at $999/pair, the new Maxwell Monitor One mates at 6.5-inch Kevlar-fiberglass woofer with a concentric 1-inch silk-dome tweeter in a cabinet with a machined-aluminium baffle that stands just under a foot tall. Noting that top-grade parts are used throughout, KLH says the speaker has a wide 140-degree dispersion, “making the entire room the sweet spot.”

The speaker is available in one of three exotic high-gloss finishes: Ferrari red, cocobolo (right in photo), and figured koa wood.

Backed by a 10-year warranty, the Maxwell Monitor One is rated down to 35 Hz (±3 dB) with a spec’d sensitivity of 90 dB (1-watt @ 1 meter). Power handling is 50 to 150 watts.

“The Maxwell Monitor One…is built upon the same principle that original KLH co-founder Henry Kloss demonstrated time-and-time again, that is to deliver to the masses innovative, great-sounding music systems that represent tremendous values,” said CEO David P. Kelley. “The Maxwell Monitor One is passionately designed and manufactured to be the best-looking and best-sounding of its type in the sub-$2,000 price category — a timeless design that will be cherished and passed on to future generations much like we still see with Henry’s iconic speakers such as the KLH Model Five.”

KLH is also using the concentric driver arrangement in its new Maxwell in-ceiling speakers that ship this month.
