Klipsch T5 II ANC Headphone features full wireless, sound optimization from Dirac

Back in June, we wrote that Klipsch will introduce Dirac sound optimization technologies into the next generation of headphones. We didn’t have to wait long: the Dirac Sound Optimization system will work in fully wireless Klipsch T5 II ANC.

The headphones work on the Bragi OS platform, and it is responsible for the functionality of personalization and adjustment of the sound to the individual profile of the listener due to artificial intelligence algorithms. Moreover, with the help of this system, you can adjust the non-musical functions of the T5 II ANC: for example, enable the function of answering a call with a nod of the head or use other options for gesture control.

Together with Dirac specialists, Klipsch engineers tried to achieve an optimized design and clean sound from the T5 II ANC. The description says that the result is “the best in terms of sound and the most comfortable headphones on Earth, embodying the legendary sound of Klipsch”.

The creators also ambitiously called the hybrid noise reduction system used in the headphones “advanced”. It is based on two microphones in each earpiece, one of which listens to what is happening inside the ear, and the second assesses the situation outside. As a result, the system provides noise reduction up to -22 dB. For voice transmission during calls, an array of six microphones is used.

Each earpiece contains one 5.8 mm speaker with thin cellulose diaphragms. The speaker was developed from scratch, and, according to the company, compared to the usual T5 (which we visited on the test), the sound turned out to be more neutral, and the bottoms were deep.

The HD Sound system developed by Dirac took over the optimization of the speaker sound, which corrects the pulse and amplitude characteristics, improving ” the scene, clarity, distinctness of the voice and bass accuracy while allowing you to personalize the sound with a special equalizer.”

Included with the headphones are six pairs of branded oval ear pads that provide a comfortable fit, high-quality noise insulation, and good bass transmission. On a single charge, the T5 II ANC will work up to seven hours in standard mode and up to five hours with noise reduction turned on, and the case will allow you to recharge the headphones three more times. Also, the headphones are protected from moisture according to the IPX4 standard.

The headphones are connected to the sources via Bluetooth 5 and support the A2DP 1.3, AVRCP 1.6, HSP 1.2, HFP 1.7A2DP profiles, and from the codecs they work with SBC, AAC, and aptX HD. The model will be available in three standard color options: dark gray, silver, and copper, as well as in an exclusive version created in collaboration with McLaren. The exclusive version will also support Qi wireless charging.

The release is scheduled for 2021, the cost of headphones has not yet been officially named — but in some stores, they can already be pre-ordered for $300.
