British company “Pure” has launched Evoke portable audio range. So far, it features three models: Evoke Spot, Evoke Play and Evoke Home. The focus on the European market is indicated by the digital radio DAB+, however, an FM tuner is also available.

Support for Internet radio and Bluetooth has become a more universal feature of the new products. Moreover, in the top model Evoke Home (not yet released), there will be a built-in CD player with a slotted receiver.

The entry-level Spot model, in addition to a DAB+ or FM tuner, has the ability to connect to Spotify via Spotify Connect over Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth is also supported. Up to 20 watts of sound from the built-in class D amplifier is processed by a 3-inch full-range speaker in conjunction with a bass reflex port on the back of the cabinet, presented in white or coffee colors.

The design feature of all three new products is the retractable color display located on top. It displays the operation of the built-in alarm clock and timer and, of course, playback parameters. The controls are on the surface of Evoke itself. When the display is folded down, the devices become more compact and the unnecessary light source disappears. However, the volume control has its own backlight.

The Evoke Play is twice as big – that’s 40 watts, which powers a pair of 20mm soft dome tweeters and a 3.5-inch woofer. The foldable color display has the same functions. But Evoke Play can be retrofitted with an additional battery power ChargePAK, which will provide 12 hours of battery life. Therefore, the Play body also received a carrying handle.
